Spectacular atmospheric phenomenon over Kékestető – VIDEO
Those who happened to be looking up at the sky on Sunday morning over Kékestető witnessed an extraordinary sight, nlcafe.hu reports.
Shortly before 2:30am, a group of ‘glowing’ couds appeared near Kékestető, Hungary’s highest mountain. The phenomenon was recorded by one of the webcams of Időkép:
These so called noctilucent clouds are formed in the upper atmosphere and they can only be observed in deep twilight. The name noctilucent comes from the Latin, meaning ‘night shining’. Made of ice crystals, they appear in the form of streaks or waves on the night sky, illuminated by the rising sun from below. Noctilucent clouds are most often observed in the summer months, and their origins remain largely unknown. (Wikipedia)
