Gyöngyös Zoo Welcomed 4 Lion Cubs
The zoo in the Hungarian town of Gyöngyös enjoys a roar of pride over the birth of 4 lion cubs – the head of the zoo has recently disclosed this delightful information to the Hungarian News Agency (MTI).
Henrietta Barcai also said that the zoo has welcomed birth of 3 male cubs and one female cub on April 22 and did not announce this information until recently. According to the press statement all the cubs are feeling great and the animal care team is fully concentrated on nursing them. Right now the new family is not on a public display but from the 9th of June zookeepers will allow the cubs to be on exhibit.
The administration of the zoo has also announced that the new members of the lion family still have not received any names. Therefore, all the visitors and readers, who are interested in the creative process of naming the cubs, are more than welcomed to submit their ideas. The most imaginative and original proposals will be selected for the further voting.
Happy parents of the newborns cubs are Elza and Zimba. Last year on the 29th of August they have welcomed their first 4 cubs – 2 female and 2 male lions. These four “baby” lions have become a part of the Italian wild park.
The Gyöngyös Zoo was founded in2004, but has been operating as the zoo only from 2008; 84 species of animals live on the one and a half acres of this amazing facility.
