Balaton Sound, the festival that can be heard up to tens of kilometers

The 2016 season of the popular Hungarian festival came to an end with the 11th of July. The Balaton Sound was organized, as usual, at the biggest European freshwater lake, Balaton, at the beach of Zamárdi. It was the tenth time for the “Sound community” to rave the night away.

The Festival is known as the main event for club music in the country, and it definitely did not disappoint its fans in 2016. Performers, like Armin van Buuren, Steve Aoki, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Martin Solveig, Duke Dumont, Fritz Kalkbrenner or Hernan Cattaneo were all there to “make some noise”, as also a number of other DJs, at 19 locations of the Festival, from all over the world, to keep the lovers of dancing up, from the moment when the sun reaches its peak, sinks in the lake, and comes up again, from the specular surface of the Balaton.

Also, the festival successfully tried to attach the more ordinary festivalgoers as well, as Balaton Sound is quite famous for having an audience significantly different from other festivals. This is probably why, while having a few somewhat more instrumental performers, like Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Chris Brown, Punany Massif, Halott Pénz or Brains, they also started to hide the open-air gyms otherwise so characteristic about this festival. Still, most of the people visiting Sound are quite stereo-typically bulk up guys and girls, who fell into Mica powder on the way to Zamárdi.

On the end of hospitality Balaton Sound seems to have a so-called European quality service. While the beer given at the bars is still not the best, it is, at least, still affordable, and the staff is nice enough to change your closed can of beer to a cold one, if it happens to warms up in the high temperatures.

While the whole festival seems to be mature and well organized, sadly, some foreign performers still made some scandals to happen. While Robin Schulz, for example, one of the most anticipated stars, canceled his show, another team, the Canadian DVBBS are rumored to have made quite some mass at their dressing room at the festival. But, at these times, there are always performers who help you smile again.

But these cases obviously seem to generate themselves without reflecting bad on the festival as a whole that – through hard work – obviously presented the best parties of the summer for the lovers of club music and slicing movements in the mirror of the sun. Now, a long week of recovery would be welcomed. Unfortunately for festival-travelers, EFOTT starts off in just a few days, so “az éjjel soha nem érhet véget” (“the night can never end” – sung by the fans of the Hungarian football team at Euro2016).
