Labour shortage critical in Hungary
Budapest, July 14 (MTI) – The shortage of labour is becoming critical in Hungary with half of unfilled jobs found in the central region, business daily Világgazdaság said on Thursday.
The number of job vacancies in the market sector at companies employing at least five people was 36,000 in the first quarter of the year which marks a 33 percent increase compared with the same period in 2015, the paper said, citing fresh data by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
The number of vacant positions at institutions in the public sector went up to 14,500 in January-March from the same period in the previous year, the paper said.
Labour shortage has become most acute in Hungary’s central region where 18,000 positions are waiting to be filled immediately.
The next region seeking workforce badly is central-western Hungary where 4,500 positions are unfilled, said the paper.

I just read an article which showed high poverty rates in Hungary and unemployment rates of 16% in some areas. If there is an employment shortage, why are there so many people not taking advantage an applying for those jobs? Is commuting a problem or is it that some do not wish to work and only want government hand outs? Have a bit of pride and work!
