Socialist Official Accused Of Skinhead Past Resigns
Budapest, May 16 (MTI) – Zsolt Molnar, leader of the opposition Socialist Party’s Budapest organisation, announced his resignation from the post on commercial television channel ATV on Thursday evening.
Molnar said he had decided to step down in the wake of “ignoble attacks” based on allegations that he participated in skinhead protests over 20 years ago.
Earlier, Magyar Nemzet online published a photo of Molnar appearing in a 1992 demonstration of radical youth. In a statement sent to MTI, Molnar categorically denied ever having been a skinhead or member of an extremist organisation.
