Szeged Hosts The ICF Canoe World Cup On The Weekend
The Maty-ér near to Szeged will be the place for the 3rd event of the canoe world ups series following Milan and Racice. More than 1000 contenders arrived from 54 countries, writes nso.hu.
EteleBaráth, president of the Hungarian Kayak-Canoe Association (MKKSZ) said that the best Hungarian rowers will all be there, about 60 altogether. Attila Ábrahám, president of the organizing committee, was happy to see the promising weather forecast for the weekend. He then announced that spectating the contest will be free and free buses will transports the visitors to Maty-ér.
Head coach BotondStorcz expects big fights in the races after the previous events.
The Hungarian world title holder C-2 double, Róber Mike and Henrik Vasbányai are eager to get two medals on the weekend at C-2 1000 meters and 500 meters. Attila Vajda, the fanfavourite from Szeged, will have three races and hopes to win medals as well. Among the sprinters, only rowers from Győr will race for Hungary. Ádám Lantos and Péter Nagy already had a bronze medal in Milan in C-1 200 meters. ZsanettLakatos, who also has a bronze medal, will race alone.
There will be a paracanoe contest as well at the weekend. RóbertWeisz, leader of the pararowers said that although they wanted to organize the event last year, there were not any contenders. This year, however, 40 racer from 12 countries will be there. Hungary will have 10 pararowers.
