A Successful Performance By A 15 years Old Hungarian Cellist In Cologne – VIDEO
Gergely Devich, a 15 years old Hungarian boy made a successful and excellent performance in the first round of the Eurovision Young Musicians competition (EYM) in Cologne –HVG.hu reported.
The first round of the EYM took place in the Westdeutscher Rundfunk headquarter (WDR) on Monday where Gergely played two songs: the Love Dreams of Franz Liszt and then the Romanian Folk dance of Béla Bartók. Interestingly, he performed the latter together with her mother, Mária Kovalszki who played the piano during the cello performance.
Gergely Devich commented the HVG that he feels his performance was great. “I was the fourth and I felt great on the stage. I enjoyed playing the cello and all the rest depend on the jury. I’m glad that I have already finished the first round, thus I can focus and concentrate today’s final with all my strength. It may be weird but I was more scared about the first than the final round. ”
The final challenge will be held in an open-air stage in front of the Cologne Cathedral on Saturday night. Luckily, the M2 Hungarian television channel will broadcast the competition live so we can cheer for Gergely. During the final competition each competitor has to give a 5-minute-long performance together with the WDR orchestra – Kristiina Poska Estonian conductor will conduct the performances. According to HVG, Gergely is going to perform the work of Camille Saint-Saens called Allegro appassionato.
The jury will rate the first round’s performances and the final performance as well. The president of the jury is Clemens Hellsberg violinist who is the director of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Moreover, the members of the jury are Carol McGonnell, Irish clarinettist, Markus Pawlik German pianist as well as Maurice Steger Swiss flute artist and Uros Lajovic Slovenian conductor.
