Reaction to EU summit – Jobbik: Orbán’s real intentions revealed
Viktor Orbán failed in Bratislava (Pozsony): not only was he unable to change the EU immigration policy, it was actually him who took a 180 degree turn.
Jobbik believes Hungary’s PM should not have agreed to the joint V4 document presented by Poland’s Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski, according to which EU member states struggling with labour shortage (including Hungary) may receive “refugees and immigrants even in great numbers”. This horrifying terminology completely overlaps with the ideas of Hungarian Minister of Economy Mihály Varga, who would also employ third-country immigrants to manage labour shortage, instead of bringing Hungarians home from the West and closing the salary gap to the EU average.
Thus Orbán’s real intention has been revealed: he considers the referendum on Oct 2 as a mere test of strength in partisan and domestic policy. By doing so however, he is driving Hungary into a highly risky gamble since an invalid outcome would be a powerful trump card in Brussels’ hands. After the EU summit on Friday, one thing is more certain than ever: if the referendum is invalid, Viktor Orbán will have to take personal responsibility and resign from his velvet PM’s seat!
