POLL – Fidesz expands its lead
Budapest, October 4 (MTI) – The ruling Fidesz party and its Christian Democrat ally expanded its lead by four percentage points since August, according to a Nezőpont Institute survey carried out for the daily Magyar Idők.
The paper’s edition on Tuesday said that the poll done before Sunday’s referendum on European Union migrant quotas showed Fidesz-KDNP with 36 percent support. The opposition Jobbik party was down a point, with 11 percent. The Socialist party stood unchanged at 10 percent, while the Democratic Coalition (DK) was down a point at 6 percent. The smaller opposition parties polled between 1 and 3 percent.
Taking core party support into account, the ruling parties had the support of 49 percent, Jobbik had 20 percent, the Socialists were at 10 while DK stood at 7 percent.
Based on the results, the ruling parties would secure a two-thirds majority, the paper said.
