Parliament Building Attracts Record Number Of Visitors
Budapest, June 30 (MTI) – The parliament building in Budapest attracted a record number of nearly 400,000 visitors, with revenues amounting to several hundred million forints last year, tabloid Blikk said today.
Ticket sales totalled 623 million forints from 397,000 visitors last year, the paper said. In the first five months of this year, even before the start of the tourist season, 171,000 visitors paid nearly 250 million forints to see the building, it added.
Tickets to non-EU residents cost 3,500 forints while EU residents, including Hungarians, pay half price. However, as of July 1, the price of tickets will go up by 20 percent, the tabloid reported. Parliament’s press office told the paper that ticket sales help reduce the expenses of the parliament building.
Last month, a state-of-the-art visitor centre was opened under the facility as part of a comprehensive revamp project in Kossuth Square.
