Farm ministry state secy at consultations with World Meteorological Organization head
Budapest (MTI) – The head of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) held talks with Hungary’s farm ministry state secretary on the sidelines of the Budapest Water Summit 2016 on Tuesday, a statement by the ministry said.
WMO Secretary-General Petteri Taalas and state secretary Istvan Nagy discussed the growing popularity of personal weather stations, the role of the national weather service in safeguarding property and personal security, and weather information for air controllers.
Nagy expressed hope that the Budapest Water Summit would result in a breakthrough similar to the Paris climate deal.
“Our aim is to get water recognised as the most important and most endangered natural resource and give stimulus to implementing the goal of sustainable development,” he said.
Hungary has been member of the WMO since its foundation in 1951.
