Hungarians travel more abroad
Budapest, December 8 (MTI) – Hungarians travelled and spent more abroad this summer, the business daily Világgazdaság said on Thursday, citing Central Statistical Office figures.
In the third quarter of the year, Hungarians paid 5.5 million trips abroad, 7.7 percent more than in the same period of 2015. Their total spendings amounted to 251 billion forints (EUR 803m), 16 percent up from the corresponding figure of 2015 and on par with pre-crisis levels, it said.
Balázs Bakó of the Association of Hungarian Travel Agencies said that bookings in Turkey had dropped by 20-30 percent and fewer Hungarians travelled to Tunisia, Egypt and Italy too. In turn, the number of Hungarians visiting Croatia, Romania and Slovakia increased.
