PREVIEW – Hungarian Parliament to vote on legislation returned by president
Budapest, December 11 (MTI) – Hungarian lawmakers are expected to vote on legislation returned to parliament by the president during a session on Monday, the agenda for the day shows.
President János Áder earlier returned three pieces of legislation to lawmakers for reconsideration, arguing that one effectively makes the construction of wind farms impossible, another allows too little time for the transfer of ownership of a square in the centre of the capital to the state, and a third gives authorities excessive powers to conduct raids on pharmacies.
Final votes on eight more pieces of legislation are on the agenda, including one that would introduce a flat-rate 9 percent corporate tax.
On Tuesday, MPs could approve annual reports by the Kúria, Hungary’s supreme court, the National Justiciable Office (OBH) and the Chief Prosecutor as well as a proposal on a resolution condemning the persecution of Christians and genocide in Africa. Tuesday is likely to be the last time lawmakers hold a plenary session this year.
