According to Hungarian FM Szijjártó, the President of Ukraine launched an “ugly campaign” of provocation

The President of Ukraine has launched “an ugly campaign” against Hungary in the international arena in recent days, but “one should not fall for his provocations”, the foreign minister said on Thursday, prior to attending a general assembly meeting of the United Nations in New York.

According to a foreign ministry statement, Péter Szijjártó said that the Hungarian government’s position had proven right during the past one thousand days of the war in Ukraine: the war has no solution on the battlefield and the only way to settle the armed conflict is through negotiations.

He said that “after more than one thousand days there are still those who are unable to see that an overall new reality has developed: the Russians are forging ahead more and more intensively day-by-day against Ukraine, while here, in the United States a pro-peace politician has won the presidential election and his inauguration is getting closer and closer”.

Szijjártó said it was regrettable that “the American Democrats and Western European liberals have launched a bitter attack in a last-ditch effort” to thwart the efforts towards peace of the incoming president who will take office on 20 January. He noted that President-elect Donald Trump had made a clear statement in recent days promoting peace and calling for peace talks.

“It is high time for Western European leaders to understand that Donald Trump is a serious person… He made clear during his presidential campaign that he had an interest in creating peace fast, and this must be taken seriously,” Szijjártó said.

After Trump’s taking office, standpoints about migration will change around the world, the foreign minister said.

  1. The only “peace” Putin accepts is surrender and the slavery under Russian masters that comes with it. That is what Fidesz is trying to impose on Ukraine by doing everything it can to prevent it from defending itself by cutting off arms and financial aid. Shame on Hungary. Orban makes talks with Putin behind Zelensky’s back and then presents his “peace” proposal as a fait accompli to Ukraine without ever consulting with Ukraine and our European and US partners. Orban and Szijjarto are Russian stooges working against Europe to ensure a Russian victory and with that will come another Russian invasion in a few years time likely in the Baltics. These Hungarian useful idiots of Russia are incredibly destructive.

  2. Hungary is never WRONG.
    Always – the “innocent” victim.
Orban & his Fidesz Government – have a HISTORY taking always the postion of “High Moral” ground – in the conduct of there Governmental affairs – representation of Hungary.
LAUGHABLE – again, from Peter Szijjarto in his of NO respect opinion.

  3. Perhaps the Hungarian junta should ask themselves if Trianon has been a lasting and just peace. The Putin Empire is demanding that same sort of treaty of Ukraine. Every third grader in Hungary knows better than to accept that sort of deal again. Why doesn’t the Orban regime know it? Oh, don’t bother answering that. We all know the answer. It was bought and paid for years ago.

  4. Ah. “Provocations!”. Terrible!

Amazingly, our Politicians routinely forget to call out Messrs. Putin, Medvedev and Lavrov …

    Etc.

No wonder I get all these /// questions regarding Hungary from foreigners … They believe we all worship Mr. Orbán and co. I always tried to preach “Hungarian stability”, however this position increasingly difficult to defend. See the sudden proposed ban on migrant workers. Phone off the hook asking “what now?” – or rather WTF #unhinged

  5. Ukraine urged to halt military actions amid deepening crisis
General Waldemar Skrzypczak suggests that Ukraine must halt military actions to avoid disaster. Russia is intensifying attacks, and the situation for the Ukrainian army is critical.

General Oleksandr Syrskii revealed details of the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region, emphasizing that it was unavoidable. “Le Monde” reports that these actions aimed to weaken the Russian offensive potential.

Zelensky admits Ukraine does not have military strength to reclaim lost territories from Russia.

If Zelensky had the brains required by a leader, he would have sent diplomats to Russia to discuss its agreement to EU expansion. Instead, Zelensky decided with the backing of US, NATO and EU to fight a war. The result so far is destruction of infrastructure, 5 million Ukrainians escaping the war and a high death toll.

P.M. Orban and F.M. Szijjarto were right all along. Even with western back-up, Ukrainians had no chance to defeat Russia; Russia’s weakening was the aim of EU and US globalists. Globalist already buying up Ukraine cheaply. Ukraine suffered a huge loss; Ukrainians deserve better than what the west has planned for them.

  6. @mariavontheresa … Let´s be clear. Russia attacked Ukraine. Mr. Putin thought he would take Kiyv in a week, which he obviously did not. Then, Ukraine defended itself with anything it could find. Now, we are 1000 plus days in, and still the Ukrainians fight for their country, democracy, sovereignty.

Please do let us know what wonderful things Russia has in store for Ukraine? They´re not known for bringing bliss, which is why all of the neighbours are more than nervous. There is a reason why Sweden and Finland all of a sudden joined NATO, why Poland is spending on its military like their lives depend on it (perhaps the memories of Russia in the past aren´t as sweet as Hungary´s…) and the Baltics and Czech Republic are unwavering in their support.

Obviously, all these countries are war mongers and our “Pro-Peace!” Politicians are right – however, we may be forgetting some of the things history has taught us?
