During the time of the Advent fair at the St Istvan Square, the vicinity of the Basilica becomes a magical Christmas neighborhood. From November 27 for 5 weeks, 200 programs, the products of 80 arts and crafts exhibitors, the special international food and beverage selection of the Zrinyi Street will ensure the festive atmosphere for the preparation for Christmas – the organizers wrote.
In the evenings, 3D Christmas-inspired short films come to life on the 4000-sqm façade of the Basilica every half hour, and a 200-sqm ice rink is waiting for the little ones where there will also be training as well. In the equipped bake house of the Hungarian Interchurch Aid called “szeretet.ehseg (love.hunger)”, the volunteers make gingerbreads together with visitors and surprise guests helping the organization with which they give thanks to the donors, travelo.hu wrote.
In the fabulous wooden houses on the square, you can choose from nearly 80 craftsmen’s previously-juried souvenirs,       but you can also find the design products of young talents. This year, arts and crafts exhibitors will line up on the section connecting Bajcsy Zsilinszky Road and Hercegprimas Street, too, at the side of the Basilica, offering an even wider and more complex supply for the customers. Meanwhile, the visitors can try the holiday season’s most popular delicacies and novelties – besides the steaming hot dishes, they can enjoy warm cocktails as well.
According to travelo.hu, street food – which debuted at the fair two years ago – will dominate the whole Zrinyi Street: it will be filled with the gastro exhibitors’ special food, Advent delicacies and international cuisine at full length. The trendiest Hungarian food trucks and street food exhibitors will line up from Sas Street to Szechenyi Square, including ZingBurger, KolBice, BudDog, Paneer, MexKitchen, Balkan Grill, DiVino and Korhely. The more than 30 exhibitors will make pancakes, grilled sandwiches, soup bar, new wave pie, scone, plejskavica, Italian sweets and savory delicacies. The gastro cavalcade will be closed by Lens Day on January 1, 2016, in accordance with the New Year’s traditions.
