The biggest deer farm of Hungary can be found in Bőszénfa, at the Game Management Landscape of the Centre of Kaposvár University. The farm has by now become famous worldwide, offering an unforgettable landscape and experiences.
According to sokszinuvidek.24.hu, the farm takes part in a diverse range of activities. They participate in numerous research programs together with Kaposvár University, contributing to students’ education and giving them a chance to gain practical experiences as well.
Besides big game animals, the farm also has domestic animals such as Hungarian Grays, Hortobágy Racka Sheep, horses, donkeys, goats and domestic water buffalos.
According to their website, the “1300 hectare land provides habitat for more than 1500 red deer, 300 wild boar, 200 fallow deer, 150 muflons and approximately 50 roe deer.”
There are about 3,000 animals on the farm, and besides education and research, animal husbandry and hunting are also part of the profile of the farm.
The managers are also conscious about tourism as they make sure the experiences and the view are irresistible. Visitors can not only enjoy close contact with the animals and the marvellous views of nature, but the farm also offers great gastronomical experiences. The restaurant of the farm offers meals prepared from game meat, local products as well as spices and herbs from the area.
