Budapest’s new Asian store is a hit: Two locations already open!

A new retail chain specialising in Asian food has entered the Hungarian market, quickly capturing the attention of shoppers across social media. QQ Express launched last autumn in Budapest with two store openings, targeting fans of Asian cuisine.

Fast food and snacks: With on-site dining!

Offering a wide range of fast food, snacks, exotic spices and hard-to-find ingredients, QQ Express sets itself apart with one distinctive feature: it allows customers to enjoy ready-to-eat meals prepared on-site. For instance, patrons can eat instant soups made with hot water directly in the shop – making for not only a speedy shopping trip, but also a quick dining experience. While this model is already familiar on the international market, it is still a relatively new concept for Hungarian consumers, VG reports.

The QQ Express brand is operated by Asia Food Family Kft., a food retail and wholesale company established in Budapest in 2024. In addition to running two stores in the capital, the company also maintains a B2B wholesale distribution network, improving access to Asian food products across Hungary, according to Origo.

What makes QQ Express stand out?

Although Asian grocery shops have long existed in Hungary, QQ Express distinguishes itself by combining quick shopping with immediate dining options. This type of service has so far mainly been associated with major international chains such as 7-Eleven, which have yet to enter the Hungarian market.

According to reviews shared on social media, customer interest continues to grow, with many hoping QQ Express will expand beyond the capital. Rather than functioning as a traditional supermarket, the chain caters to those seeking Asian flavours in a convenient blend of shopping and dining.
