Balassi Institute gets new head
Budapest, December 11 (MTI) – The foreign minister has appointed Judit Hammerstein to head the Balassi Institute, the ministry told MTI on Thursday.
Hammerstein worked as chief advisor at the cabinet office and as deputy state secretary in charge of culture between 2011 and the summer of 2014.
She is successor to Pal Hatos, who was recalled from his post on Nov. 14.
The institute oversees the operation of Hungarian cultural institutes around the world, organises several language courses and is responsible for disbursing scholarships. The institute is present in 20 cities such as New York, New Delhi, Cairo, Helsinki, London and Warsaw.
