Best Hungarian rock/metal albums of 2015

Change language:
Looking back at 2015, we can note several events that seem to show new trends in the Hungarian rock calendar. On the one hand, lots of Hungarian bands broke up, there was a time when popular bands dissolved every week (Leander Rising, Replika, Subscribe, Isten Hata Mogott etc.). Another interesting thing is that more and more Hungarian bands sing in their mother language: they write meaningful lyrics, devote at least as much effort to lyrics as music. The third factor is the more prominent inclusion of the Hungarian folk music heritage to the production. Using the “best” indicator is a subjective opinion, of course. It has been compiled of albums of which the Felvidek Rockmagazin published a review in 2015, felvidekirockmagazin.blog.hu wrote.
- Horda – Part 1 – When The Sun Sleeps EP
Guitarist Gyula Pavelka (ex-Akela) returned with a completely new line-up and a transformed music world with his band: instead of the usual nu/groove metal, they made a smart, progressive metal bouquet at the beginning of August. The second part of the EP was promised to be released by the end of this year – it seems it will not be published this year.
- Magor – Testamentum
Magor band from Jaszbereny released its debut album 7 years after its establishment, and they toured a lot with it, introducing the album as widely as possible. The singing is metalcore, the quantity and quality of guitar solos are above average, there are death, thrash, melo-death and groove metal riffs; the Hungarian lyrics are very serious but especially suggestive.
- Nadir – Ventum Iam Ad Finem Est
The fifth album of Nadir from Budapest is definitely the most successful album of the band: death/doom grinding in eight songs, which deals with the topic of the relationship of mankind and nature from the start until the not very pleasant closure. The only downside of the album is its shortness, since playtime is barely half an hour, felvidekirockmagazin.blog.hu wrote.
- Needless – The Dark Spirit Of Ages
Needless in Danszentmiklos released its English language death/thrash album in the form of an EP in April, with 25 minutes of playtime. Adam Forczek has a relentless voice, a ferocious mid-tempo: they need an international record label and international distribution, immediately!
