Bloomberg: Government couples with French airport to buy Budapest Airport
The Hungarian government is working with France’s Vinci Airports on a plan to buy Budapest Airport. Thus, with French help, the plan to take Hungary’s main airgate into state ownership can be realised, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
According to Bloomberg, Vinci could acquire a significant minority stake of up to 49% in the purchase. However, the deal has not yet been reached and negoiations could fall through. In 2021, in a failed attempt to buy the airport, the value of the airgate was estimated at around EUR 4.4 billion.
According to Bloomberg, the Hungarian state wants 51% of the airport, with the remainder to be handed over to an operator. A source of Telex talked about this earlier. They said that the foreign partner (i.e. probably Vinci) would be a minority owner, but would come in with financing above the ownership stake.
Vinci came into the story of the state takeover of Budapest Airport back in September, when VSquare’s newsletter reported that the Hungarian government would buy the airport in alliance with a French partner. This partner would be Vinci Airports, with whom the Hungarian government has made an offer to the German AviAlliance to buy Budapest Airport, and which operates airports in 13 countries around the world.
A Bloomberg informant, who is also involved in the negotiations, said that the current goal is to reach a deal by the end of the year.
The purpose of buying the airport is to allow the government to increase the economic capital controlled by the state.

Is this AGAIN a disgraceful example, of a Government, operating from a Financial position, that see’s it barely surviving, worsening by the day, that could eventuate as being insolvent, that they would be “considering” this acquisition ?
Ludicrous.
Where are there PRIORITIES ?
The people of Hungary first – what’s best for them, then second to this, what’s best for Hungary.
Spend money, peoples taxes on the NEEDS of the people of Hungary.
What happened to the SUPER Hospital over 3 years past, ” mouthed off” by Orban and his Government, absolute state of the art, that when built – all the “bells & whistles” reductions broadsheet on medical consultations, surgery, and a capacity or size – never in Hungary a Hospital, built to its size – that is a place that is a NEED of Citizens ?
PRIORITIZATION – at this point in time VITAL, as we have a Government, that is financially “on there knees” – scrounging and scrapping – for every huf they can grab, to hopefully not – cataclysmically collapse.
This airport venture if it was to “come off” will end in a disaster, that will see Hungary the MASS losers.
Contractually – the sale out of the joint venture by either party – how is that worded ?
What if the French don’t want to sell ?
Consideration of all aspects like exampled must be considered and that it won’t be SIMPLE – to sway and move the French, in a contractual arrangement like the subject of this article.
PRIORITIZATION – this Orban Government deepen to the people of Hungary, they have lost the PLOT- no longer able to act and Govern normally, and understand what is happening around them, that they are FEEDING the “black hole” darkening that we Hungary descend.
