Bomb threats in Hungarian malls, teenager caught in connection with the latest school bomb threat wave

Authorities examined the Vértes Center in Tatabánya and the Balaton Pláza in Veszprém, both local malls, because they received bomb threats on 1 February. Fortunately, they did not find explosives in any of the buildings concerned. Meanwhile, they detained a Hungarian teenager responsible for the latest school bomb threat wave.
New bomb threats
According to index.hu, an unknown person informed the police about a bomb in Tatabánya’s Vértes Center, so authorities evacuated the mall and examined the building. Based on the local police, the issue is not connected to the school bomb threats of the past two weeks.

The Balaton Pláza in Veszprém also received a bomb threat on Saturday, but the police found no explosives in the mall.

Good news: authorities caught perpetrator of latest school bomb threat wave
Police have detained a 15-year old boy in connection with bomb threats sent to 46 schools on Thursday, a spokesperson for the investigation told a press conference. Mónika Kész-Varga said the sender of the threatening emails had been identified as a boy living in a small village in north-eastern Hungary’s.
The suspect was questioned and admitted to having sent the emails “to terrify students so that they run away from the schools,” Kész-Varga said. The police searched the threatened school buildings and found no explosive devices.
