Signs point to Brussels wanting to expand war, says FM Szijjártó

A new proposal from the European Commission advising Europeans to stock emergency rations for 72 hours indicates that it is Brussels that is preparing to expand the war in Ukraine, Péter Szijjártó, the foreign minister, said on Friday, adding, however, that member states were not under any real threat.

“Brussels is readying for war”

In a statement released by his ministry, Szijjártó said that when they had first heard about the EC’s proposal on Thursday, they had assumed it was “a joke or trolling”. But it had turned out to be real, he said, noting that the recommended contents of such an emergency kit were presented by Hadja Lahbib, a European commissioner.

“Europeans, at the beginning of the 21st century, can rightfully ask why they would need to prepare a 72-hour survival kit,” Szijjártó said. “If we try to think through the explanations, we are unfortunately left with only one, which is that Brussels is readying for war.”

“As things stand, since Donald Trump took office, there has been an increasingly strong chance for a ceasefire and for the start of meaningful peace talks,” he said. “But Brussels is constantly opposing these peace efforts, even though they’d have one job: to support the peace efforts so that peace could return to Europe as soon as possible.”

Hungarian government “on side of peace”

Szijjártó said no European Union or NATO member was under threat from Russia. “And that’s exactly why Brussels encouraging Europeans to prepare a survival kit means that it’s Brussels that wants to expand the war,” he said. Szijjártó said that at EU meetings, European “pro-war politicians” regularly pushed to continue the war “despite the policies of the past years having been a complete failure”.

“They know that this is the only way for them to delay being held accountable for three years of failed policies, and as long as the war keeps going they won’t have to answer the uncomfortable question of where the money has gone,” he said. “Where is the money from voters’ tax euros that they have sent to Kyiv?”

“We Hungarians remain on the side of peace, and we call on the European Commission not to hinder, but to support Donald Trump’s peace efforts,” the minister said. “And we await the European Commission’s answer as to why there is a need to prepare a 72-hour survival kit and why Brussels wants to expand the war in which peace efforts have started to look rather encouraging.”

  1. More Russian propaganda from the Fidesz government telling you to make yourself completely defenceless so that the Russians can walk all over you and take your country. Get rid of these Russian ass kisser traitors.

  2. Dear Larry, all NATO and Brussels talk about is spending more of your hard-earned money on weapons. Brussels keeps saying that peace treaty brokered by President Trump is unacceptable because Brussles was not at the table. Every time Zelensky goes to Brussels, the taxpayers’ tap drastically rises. Actions speak the loudest. All the Hungarian Foreign Minister did was use his brain and reached the right conclusion. Ukraine would not even be a benefit to the EU, wonder why Brussels wastes the money.
