Budapest: the best city in Europe to travel to by boat

Cruisers chose Budapest as the best destination for a boat trip. The Hungarian capital’s adventurous history goes way back, which is appealing to tourists, reports hajozas.hu. Another reason why people visit Budapest is the beautiful architecture.

Cruisecritic.com magazine, which focuses on boat trips, published the names of the winners of the Cruisers’ Choice Destination award, based on the tourists’ experiences. This year, Budapest was chosen the best among the European cities. Würzberg, Germany, placed second, while Vienna placed third.

Why is Budapest popular among tourists? Simple: the city’s history is rich and colourful, and the architecture is astonishing. A lot of visitors stayed for a while after they arrived at the city, to explore the wonders of Budapest.

There were fifteen separate categories, each corresponding to the different world regions. Glacier Bay was the winner in the Alaska category, and in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean category Dubrovnik, a newcomer in this competition, was praised most. Amsterdam and Villefranche, France, was also awarded.

“We didn’t know what to expect from Budapest, and were pleasantly surprised,” explains Cruise Critic member to the magazine. “It was a very exotic, friendly, and fun city. We loved the food, the baths, and the sights.”
