From 27–31 August, the OM Vishwa Guru Deep Hindu Mandir became the centre of devotion and cultural celebration as the Indian and Hungarian communities gathered for the Budapest Ganesh Festival 2025. The five-day festivities filled the city with prayer, music, dance, and a spirit of unity.
The celebrations began on 27 August with the Ganesh Idol Sthapana (installation of Lord Ganesha’s idol). Each morning and evening, devotees participated in aarti, offering prayers and seeking blessings. Throughout the week, the program featured soulful Bhajan Sandhya sessions and the sacred Satyanarayan Puja, drawing large gatherings of devotees.

The grand finale on Sunday, 31 August, brought hundreds together for a vibrant farewell procession. The beautifully decorated palakhi carrying Lord Ganesha’s idol led the way, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of Maharashtrian Lezim dance, the energy of Gujarati Garba, and the colourful flair of Bollywood performances. Chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya” and “Om Gan Ganpate Namaha” echoed through the streets, uniting participants in devotion and joy.

Organisers noted that this marked the ninth year of the Budapest Ganesh Festival, which has become a symbol of cultural exchange and harmony. “Ganesh Festival is not only a religious occasion, but also a bridge between Indian traditions and Hungarian friendship,” said one of the coordinators.
