Budapest metro burst into fire!
The Budapest Transport Centre said on its Facebook page that a train on Budapest’s famous M1 metro line (the astonishing Millennium Underground Railway) was in fire this afternoon, so operation ceased for a while.
As a result, passengers were redirected to use bus line number 105 and 178 between the Oktogon and Heroes’ Square metro stations. Professionals from Budapest’s disaster management agency arrived quickly and extinguished the fire. They also said that current circuits caught fire, and that was the cause of the accident, blikk.hu wrote.
They escorted the passengers and ventilated the Széchenyi Bath metro station, where the incident happened. For a short while, the metro did not operate between the Oktogon and Mexikói Street metro stations.
Authorities reestablished operation quickly.
