Budapest’s first Tunisian restaurant opened in the downtown
The Sidi Bou Said restaurant, named after the astonishing Tunisian city known for its blue-white apartments and terrace cafés, opened this week in Budapest’s downtown, close to the II. János Pál pápa Square, in the NépszÃnház Street.
As a result, citizens, expats and tourists in Budapest do not have to travel to Tunisia to taste traditional local flavours. According to turizmus.com, the Tunisian Tourism Agency invited guests to a Ramadan dinner containing Tunisian dishes. Thus, partakers could taste the restaurant’s menu offer, and learn about the traditions connected to this sacred month of the Muslims.
Raja Ammar, the agency’s head welcomed the guests and told them some basic information about Ramadan. The end of the celebration is marked by Eid Day, during which acquaintances visit each other with freshly baked foods. It is a bit similar to Christian Easter. Children get new clothes, and husbands give presents to their wives at each dinner.
The Sidi Bou Said restaurant remained true to Tunisian culture and prepared Ramadan specialities for the special occasion. The place orders authentic ingredients from Tunisia. Furthermore, they prepare to offer a changing daily menu and street food specialities for guests. The co-owner and chef of the restaurant, Med Rached Omrane, regards it as one of his most important tasks to familiarise people with the traditional dishes of his homeland.
On their Facebook page, you may check out the restaurant menus. Meanwhile, after scrolling down, may check out some photos of the interior.
