This is how the Busó Festival drove away winter – Photo Gallery
According to Hungarian traditions, the carnival season has always been the time to drive away winter with noisy razzle-dazzle. It was believed that on the last days of winter the Sun weakened and bad ghosts came to life. People tried to dismiss them with noise, marry-making and by burning a witch figure. One of the most typical Hungarian feasts is the ‘Busó festival of Mohács’, which attracted crowds to Mohács last weekend. Check out these photos that reflect the carnival atmosphere quite well 🙂
