Central funding for Hungary’s national, ethnic minorities quadruples
Central funding to support Hungary’s national and ethnic minorities has quadrupled since 2010, the deputy prime minister in charge of minorities said in Parliament on Thursday.
The expansion of funding resources has been particularly significant over the past years, Zsolt Semjén told the first national conference of minority students of teacher-training institutes.
While there were 12 minority-run schools in 2010, their number today is 91, with 15,000 students learning there, he said.
Semjén also said that the wage supplements of minority school teachers has increased by 30 percent this year, with an additional 40 percent increase expected in 2020.
