Colombia celebrates National Independence Day with two events in Budapest!
Colombia was declared an independent republic on 20 July 1810. This day marked the beginning of a long process that ended with the final consolidation of the Republic in 1819. Today, the 212th anniversary of the anniversary is celebrated in Colombia and around the world, including in Budapest.
On the occasion of the 212th anniversary of 20th July, the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia in Budapest, with the support of the Mayor’s Office of Budapest and the BDK Budapest Flood and Public Lighting Ltd., achieved to illuminate the emblematic Fishermen’s Bastion, part of the complex of the Royal Castle on Buda Hill, in the colours of the national flag. This point is the most visible part of the city from the Danube and from the Pest side.

Two events will be organized on this occasion, the first on 20th July with the support of the Budapest Sports Service Provider, for the Colombian community at the City Park Ice Rink in Városliget Park with the assistance of about 200 Colombian nationals and special guests.
The second one, on 21st July in the night, consisting of a boat trip on the Danube to see the illumination of the Fisherman’s Bastion. This event will be held for Ambassadors and members of the Diplomatic Corps, senior government officials, and representatives of the business sector, education and academia, among other personalities.
