Congrats! This Hungarian bonbon won the international gastro Oscar
By winning the palm with its cognac-flavoured chocolate at the Great Taste Awards, the Hungarian dessert company, Bonbonier Chocolate Manufactory has won its 18th international award.
In the last four years, Bonbonier Chocolate Manufactory was awarded eighteen international awards thanks to its irresistible bonbons, truffles and ice creams. This year, the dessert company chose its dark chocolate truffle flavoured with original French cognac for the prestigious gastro competition Great Taste Awards.
The jury was impressed by the chocolate speciality; its tasting experience was described as the top of the evening – the crackling of the chocolate shell; the creamy filling inside that melts slowly, leaving a pleasant cognac flavour behind.
“After winning our previous award, we received a bottle of French cognac as a gift from our friends. During that great evening, besides the bottle of cognac, we opened a bar of dark chocolate. So the idea was born soon that we will prepare something similar for this year’s Great Taste Awards. We worked a lot on the recipe before it gained its final form. It is a special pleasure for me to have won the recognition of the jury and the associated one-star rating with such a classic flavour combination. Gastronomic competitions are very innovative in terms of taste. It is a special challenge to compete with classic flavours” – said Nóra Erdélyi, the chocolatier of the manufactory, who opened her manufactory in Ráday Street last year with her business partner Tamás Csomor.
As the Hungarian new portal Világgazdaság reports –
Great Taste Awards is also known as the international gastro Oscar.
In 2020, numerous products were nominated for the competition in 35 categories covering the entire gastronomy, including chocolates, dairy products, meat products and wines. A 500-member jury tasted the registered products of chefs, food critics, experts, and gastro bloggers from March to September. Out of the 12,777 products, only 205 received the highest ratings.
According to the organisers of the prestigious gastro competition, the stars and logo of Great Taste is actually a signal to consumers all over the world that they are buying a product of outstanding quality and taste.
