Orbán cabinet: Hungary should be bridge between West and the East in automotive industry

Hungary is hosting the Interparliamentary Conference on the Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the European Union in the framework of its presidency of the Council of the EU.

Opening the two-day conference János Latorcai, the deputy speaker of Hungary’s national assembly, said the conference would address the competitive advantages of the emergence of electric vehicles in the EU, the reform of the economic governance framework and the future of cohesion policy.

Máté Lóga, the National Economy Ministry’s state secretary for economic strategy, said accelerating the green transition was “indispensable” and pointed to Hungary’s role as a “bridge” connecting the know-how of automotive industries of the West and the East.

Páter Kaderják, the managing director of the Hungarian Battery Association, urged support for the broader adoption of electromobility to prevent EVs from becoming a “privilege of the rich” and suggested supplying them to driving schools.
