The most important data of the church built in the Middle Ages is from 1429 when Pope Martin V published a papal bull in which he mentioned the temple.

Interestingly, many printed and drawn maps show it from the 16th century on, so it was an important place as early as hundreds of years ago. According to delmagyar.hu, the church is the only one surrounded by a ditch and standing on a hill on the Great Hungarian Plains.

László Kiss-Rigó, the bishop of Szeged who consecrated the beautiful temple, said that it should symbolise faith in Jesus Christ even though it is built of stone and brick. He talked about the importance of cultural identity and the personal relationship with the Redeemer. He concluded that the new church should help the people of Óföldeák to find Christ and become a community.

János Lázár, the MP of the region (Fidesz), said that the church was built during the reign of King Mathias (1458-1490)

when Hungarians lived in an independent state

and, thus, they were able to influence the future of Christian Europe.
