Hungarikum awards presented

Seven national treasures were awarded Hungarikum labels at the 4th Hungarikum Awards Gala held on Thursday at the Petőfi Theater in Veszprém, in western Hungary.

The treasures include cifraszűr, a decorated jacket, lángos, a savoury deep-fried dough, Pozsonyi kifli, a sweet pastry stuffed with a walnut or poppy-seed paste, the Füred Anna Ball, Székelykapu, a carved wooden gateway, teqball, a ball game played around a gently curved table, and Hövej lace receiving Hungarikum designations.

Tibor Navracsics, the minister of public administration and regional development, said in his speech at the ceremony that Hungarian heritage, “a uniquely Hungarian and central European value, preserves us and connects us”.
