This map shows you all the green areas and parks in Budapest

Budapest is a beloved tourist destination both among Hungarians and foreigners. Thanks to its rich history and beautiful building façades, this bustling city is a charming place to roam around. But if you would like to take a break from the grey concrete jungle, Budapest also offers many parks that are popular spots to recharge or stroll around.

At first, you might think there are way fewer green areas and parks in Budapest than there actually are. Surprisingly, Budapest has a plethora of parks, both large and small, where you can relax a little bit and leave behind the monstrous buildings of the city, maybe even spend some time in nature.

Énbudapestem has created a map of the Hungarian capital on which they indicated all the green areas, public gardens, parks, forests and nature reserves as well as bicycle routes for both adventure seekers and those who would like to spend time with their families doing some outdoor activities.

Travelo writes that the map is quite up-to-date as one of the newest parks in Budapest, the Pünkösdfürdő Park is featured on it as well as the latest nature reserve in the area, the Jegenye-völgy (Poplar Valley).

According to the creators of the map, there are a plethora of parks and green areas that do not get as much attention as they deserve.

Énbudapestem highlighted that while some areas, such as the famous Városliget (City Park) and the Normafa are often crammed with people, other places that provide just as much relaxation are sometimes vastly overlooked. Additionally, overusing popular areas can lead to their premature deterioration.

While the descriptions of most parks are in Hungarian, the map is easy to use; it is based on Google maps and the different locations are marked with different signs.

If you are looking for an area with a lake, it is marked with a parasol, while bicycle rounds are marked with a cycling man. If you would like to go hiking, look out for the stickman with a backpack on, while nature reserves are mostly marked with a flower. Interestingly, there are over 861 hectares of protected natural areas in and around Budapest. You can even browse among dog-friendly locations.

If you want to leave the noise of the city behind, we recommend you to check out the area around your neighbourhood, you might discover some hidden green treasures around.
