Csardas Princess goes on international tour

Budapest, January 4 (MTI) – Hits from Imre Kalman’s popular operetta the Csardas Princess will be on tour in Europe and will make a stop in Asia, the Hungarian cultural Balassi institute said.

The piece (Csardaskiralyno in Hungarian) featuring a love story set during the first world war celebrates the 100th anniversary of its first performance this year. The revival will kick off in Budapest at the Balassi Institute’s Centre on Jan. 7, a statement from the institute said on Monday. The tour will begin in Vienna’s Ferien Messe on Jan. 16 before travelling to Moscow three days later. On Jan. 22, the piece stars in Croatia, then closes the European tour in Brussels on Feb. 8.

The production will make a special appearance in India at the Hungarian Cultural Centre in New Delhi on March 27, the statement said.

  1. They should come to New York! I’d defenitly go and see it, probably more then once, and I’m sure all the other HUNGARIAN lives around this area!!!
