Cultural fostered jobs project in second phase, says spox
(MTI) – Altogether 1,350 towns and villages and 2,290 partner organisations are involved in the second phase of the government’s fostered jobs programme in the cultural sector, which started on Sept. 1, the government’s spokeswoman told a news conference in the south Hungarian city of Pecs on Friday.
Eva Kurucz said the programme headed by the National Institute of Culture was an example of how public works programmes were not only physical but brought about work of intellectual value, while also contributing to Hungary’s pushing down jobless rate, which at 7.8 percent is below the European average.
Peter Hoppal, state secretary for cultural affairs, said the government put a premium on raising the number of public workers in the cultural sphere so as to ensure that a segment of society as broad as possible should have access to quality.
