Czech soldiers arrive in Hungary to help handle migrant crisis
Budapest, October 14 (MTI) – Soldiers from the Czech Republic have arrived in Hungary to provide Hungarian troops with logistics support in handling the migrant crisis.
The 25 Czech soldiers will take part in the Balaton 2015 exercise aimed at practising logistics tasks related to the state of crisis due to mass migration.
Brigadier-General Attila Takacs said the Czech soldiers will not be tasked with border protection or with patrolling the borders. Takacs said Hungary’s Visegrad Four partners are committed to supporting Hungary.
In response to a question, Takacs said other countries are also welcome to join the Balaton 2015 exercise, adding that the exercise is open to all European countries.
The majority of the Czech troops have experience in missions abroad.
