The daily spending of tourists in Hungary
19 million journeys were taken to Hungary, while Hungarians traveled abroad 6.1 million times, Hungarian Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported. The total sum of service exports was 6.1 billion euros, while the import was almost 4 billion in the third quarter of the year. The value of incomes increased by 4.9 percent and the expenses grew by 6.4 percent compared to last year, according to VG.hu. Assets valued about 2.2 billion euros, approximately 50 million more than last year’s third quarter.
Tourism’s income was 1.8 billion euros in this period, while expenses cost 760 million. These values are 7 and 12 percent higher than last year’s third quarter, respectively. The active of services was almost 1.1 billion euros. Hungary’s government recently began to put much effort into further increasing this sector.
Foreigner tourists arrived at Hungary 19 million times in this period, which is a 5.1 percent increase compared to last year.
Visitors usually spent 42 euros a day, 1.5 percent more than the previous year.
KSH states that 37 percent of tourists’ expenses were spent on accommodation and catering. Hungarians traveled abroad 6.1 million times, creating a 10 percent increase compared to the third quarter of 2016.
Hungarians usually spent 38 euros a day, which is 2.4 percent higher than the year before. Roughly a quarter of the spending was dedicated to accommodation and catering services.
The export of transport services cost 1.5 billion euros, the import was 859 million, which means a 10 percent increase of incomes and 8.8 percent increase of expenses. The active of transport was about 674 million euros, 69 million more than last year’s third quarter.
Business services brought 2.2 billion euros and spent 2 billion, so export grew by 4.4 percent and import increased by 1 percent. The active of the same field was almost 115 million euros, which is 124 million less than last year.
The export’s value in the first three quarters was 1.7 billion euros and the import was 1.1 billion.
The increase was 5.2 and 6.2 percent, respectively. The active was 559 million euros, which is more 18 million more than last year.
