Disturbing details: Experts revealed how the Irish David A. murdered his Japanese ex-wife in Budapest

The death of Megumi A. in January shocked the residents of Budapest and the whole country. Although the police first believed the story of her murderer, David A., about Megumi smoking in bed and dying in a fire, an NGO revealed the truth, and an investigation started. Hungarian media now revealed some additional details about the chilling murder that happened in a downtown apartment.
David A. probably murdered his wife with a pillow
According to Index, David A., the ex-husband of Megumi, killed the Japanese woman with a pillow. Then, he started a fire in her bed and told the police the woman died because she was smoking in bed and later fell asleep. David A. is now in prison, and his pre-trial detention was prolonged until 6 June. Based on the former lawyer of the Japanese woman, Júlia Spronz, even the man’s parents refuse to visit him or talk to him after learning about what he did.
The 43-year-old Irish man planned the murder of his former wife beforehand. They raised two children. The kids are currently with foster parents, but the grandparents have already agreed where to continue their upbringing. However, they did not tell the media whether the kids would move to Ireland or Japan.
Kids’ location remains secret
Currently, all the grandparents, the kids and Megumi’s body are in Budapest due to the complicated bureaucracy. Megumi’s parents would like to cremate the earthly remains of their beloved daughter and take the remains home after the medical examinations are over.
Spronz, the former lawyer of the victim, told the media that the perpetrator is behind bars, knowing that nobody would like to see him, including his parents.
Police believed the murderer and teased people who were asking questions
David A. tried to cover his traces and told the police first that his wife died because she was smoking in bed, which resulted in a fire. The police believed the story and started to tease the acquaintances of the victim, who asked questions in the comment sections and said Megumi never smoked. Later, the NGO Patent shared that the victim was in contact with them. The organisation soon revealed the truth and the chilling details: it had been made clear that David A. had been abusing and threatening his former wife for years. Megumi tried to report the abuses and threats to the police, but they ignored her. We covered the shocking details in THIS article. After checking out CCTV footage, police identified the perpetrator arriving in disguise before the death of Megumi at the downtown building.

As a result, the police promised to review its communication practices and started probes against the officers concerned. If the court finds David A. guilty of planned murder, he may receive 10-20 years behind bars or even a life sentence.
