Deadly disease in Hungary: Tests ongoing, thousands of cattle to be culled

Agriculture Minister István Nagy reported on the situation regarding foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in Hungary at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
In a video message posted on social media afterward, Nagy said that tests for the virus were being conducted at farms across the country and that no new outbreaks of FMD had been detected.
He said the operative corps for animal health had issued a special work duty order for culling and burying some 3,500 cattle at farms in Darnózseli and Dunakiliti (NW Hungary). The process, undertaken in compliance with strict protocols, could take days, he added.
