Defence Minister: Some 3,800 soldiers already at Hungary’s southern border
Budapest, September 11 (MTI) – Some 3,800 soldiers are on the Hungary’s southern border, Defence Minister Istvan Simicsko told commercial channel TV2 on Friday morning.
The soldiers’ main task is to participate in building a fence along the border with Serbia, Simicsko said, confirming news reports that around 10km sections of the fence are being built every day.
Under an initiative dubbed Resolute Action 2015 that started on Wednesday, the army’s task is to secure the border together with police because “live force protection is needed along the border; the fence is not enough”, he said.
