Hungarian woman nearly mauled by dogs, but no one knows how the animals ended up on the road – photos

A female runner was nearly torn apart by a pack of dogs, with no one knowing how they ended up there—stunning photos reveal the chaos, check them out below.
The incident happened between Pécel and Maglód, near Fáy tanya, where the woman spotted a dog lying on the road during her run. Thinking the animal was in trouble, she approached—but that’s when things took a terrifying turn, culminating in multiple dogs being shot and the runner almost losing her life.

Unsuspecting Hungarian woman nearly mauled by dogs
As she neared the dog, more and more aggressive dogs appeared, forming a pack and attacking her relentlessly. The victim told RTL Klub that she tried everything—waving her arms, shouting—but nothing worked. The pack of 16 dogs continuously attacked her, biting her on her hands and legs nearly 20 times.
Despite her athletic lifestyle, she had no chance to escape the frenzied dogs until another woman driving by stopped her car and attempted to shoo the dogs away, albeit with limited success. The runner managed to get into the back seat, was immediately rushed to the hospital, and the attack was reported.

Local authorities in Pécel, including the police and the mayor’s office, quickly arrived on the scene. The mayor authorised a local hunter to shoot the most aggressive dogs. Seven shots were fired, six hitting their targets. The rest of the dogs were later trapped and rescued thanks to volunteers from the Tattooed Animal Rescue Association.
Several dogs shot down
No one knows how the dogs ended up there. The Rescue Association suspects that unknown individuals dumped 15-16 dogs near road 31 and then abandoned them. Police searched surrounding farms and homes, but no dogs were reported missing.

The association shared several photos of the dogs involved. They explained that dogs behave very differently in packs—they become confused and feel threatened. The shot dogs were all unchipped pregnant females in poor health, with some suffering from severe prolapses and worn teeth.

Thankfully, the runner’s injuries weren’t life-threatening, though the emotional trauma may be harder to overcome. None of the bites became infected, so surgery was not needed. She told Blikk she would continue running in the area but would now carry pepper spray as advised by the police.

Illegal dog fight filmed
In a separate case, police last Thursday arrested two teenagers in Heves county for filming and inciting dog fights. The offenders, aged 15, 16, and 17, face charges for organising illegal animal fights. Authorities couldn’t find two dogs shown in the video, but they seized two other badly malnourished dogs, which will be neutered and rehabilitated before potential rehoming. The teens and the videographer could face up to three years in prison.
