DoS attack repeated against government IT network
Budapest (MTI) – The Hungarian government’s computer system has been repeatedly subjected to distributed denial of service (DoS) attacks on Tuesday, similarly to a similar incident in early April, the interior ministry said.
The “systematic attacks from foreign servers” were administered in several waves and lasted more than six hours on Tuesday evening, the ministry said on Wednesday. The government portal’s accessibility was recovered thanks to the security systems and measures introduced but a new wave of attacks started on Wednesday morning, the ministry added.
The government will do everything in its power to protect the information systems that operate the state and the affected government bodies are prepared to thwart future attacks, the ministry said.
The ministry said that on April 1, similar DoS attacks were committed on the government’s computer system, which either disabled or partially affected several government websites.
