€1 billion carbon-neutral town to be built in Hungary
The greenhouse horticulture is expected to grow significantly in the next couple of years — according to Deutsche Welle, at least, it is the fastest growing agricultural sector in the European Union.
The investment will be realised through FAKT Hungária. The company is owned by GAP Gesunde Agrarprodukte GmbH, based in Essen, like Zeiler Hungária Kft., which already operates a greenhouse in Hungary. The GAP website has videos of the greenhouses they build. E.ON’s Hungarian subsidiary will do the power engineering, reported szeretlekmagyarország.hu.

“The investment will unite the pillars of smart, affordable and sustainable energy,” said Zsolt Jamniczky, member of the Board of Directors at E.ON Hungária Zrt.
The project caught Deezen’s eyes as well; they wrote that Hungary is building a €1 billion greenhouse, operated by renewable energy only.
