Earlier opening at Budapest’s favourite Christmas fair
From 17 November, Vörösmarty Square will be dressed up for Christmas, with Vörösmarty Classic Xmas promising new attractions in the centre of Budapest this year.
The statue of Vörösmarty in the centre of the square will be covered in a transparent “snow globe”, and a led wall will be built around the statue, which will also serve as a multimedia information point. In addition to the information content, visitors will be able to participate in a community game activated by a QR code, Helló Magyar reports based on MTI.
The organisers point out that there will be a giant Christmas tree decoration on the Crystal Palace, and a free narrow gauge railway will also be operating in the square. From the train, families can enjoy the festive decoration of the Lion’s Well (Oroszlános kút). Visitors can also enjoy light installations featuring Alice in Wonderland characters.
One dish at each kitchen for HUF 1500
The announcement stresses that the gastronomic exhibitors of the Vörösmarty Classic Xmas will offer the public traditional Hungarian food and drink culture dishes related to the Christmas holiday. This year, the organisers have again ensured that everyone will be able to choose the food and drink that suits their budget. There will also be a wine-pairing menu, and one dish per day will be available at each large kitchen, which visitors can buy at a fixed price of HUF 1,500 (EUR 3.98).
Handicraft exhibitors will select their traditional handicraft products in the spirit of preserving tradition. There will also be a craft house as an educational venue where interested children can take part in weekend workshops, the press release says.
In addition to the exhibitors, the organisers will also provide sponsorship space for Heim Pál Children’s Hospital.
The Vörösmarty Classic Xmas is open until 31 December.
