Great news: Early spring bursts into Hungary with sunshine and mild days next week

Spring has firmly kicked the door open in Hungary, bringing several days of sunshine, mild afternoons and only minimal rainfall, according to a forecast from Időkép.

After a chilly start to the mornings, daytime temperatures are set to climb comfortably into early-spring territory, making the coming days ideal for outdoor plans across much of the country, Időkép writes.

Cool mornings, warm afternoons

On Monday, thin high cloud will gradually clear eastwards, giving way to long sunny spells. Some scattered showers may develop later in the day, mainly in Transdanubia (western Hungary), but most areas will stay dry. Winds are expected to remain light.

Early risers should still dress warmly: dawn temperatures may dip to between –3°C and +5°C. By the afternoon, however, thermometers will rise to a pleasant 13–18°C.

Mostly sunny through midweek

Tuesday will follow a similar pattern, with sunshine dominating nationwide. A brief shower cannot be ruled out in western regions, while patches of mist or fog could reduce visibility early in the morning in the west and north. Northeasterly winds may occasionally pick up in the northeast.

Temperatures will again range from near freezing at daybreak to around 13–18°C later in the day.

Wednesday brings little change. The country will see mostly sunny conditions, with some passing cumulus clouds. Western areas could experience isolated showers or even a stray thunderstorm, though widespread rainfall is not expected. Winds will stay weak to moderate.

Dry and settled to continue

By Thursday, the settled weather looks set to persist. Forecasters expect dry, sunny conditions with only scattered clouds and moderate southerly breezes. Daytime highs will remain comfortably spring-like, between 12°C and 18°C.

A taste of spring

Overall, the second half of the week will continue to feel distinctly spring-like, offering a welcome break after the colder winter weeks. While mornings remain crisp, the increasing sunshine and mild afternoons should make the weather feel noticeably more pleasant across Hungary. For residents and visitors alike, it may be the perfect time to explore parks, cafés and city walks: just don’t forget a jacket for those early starts.
