Economy ministry: Hungary committed to EBRD deal
Budapest (MTI) – Hungary is fully committed to abiding by the cooperation agreement signed with the EBRD earlier this year, the economy ministry said on Thursday.
Attending talks with the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Tbilisi, Georgia, Hungary’s EBRD governor and economy minister, Mihaly Varga, said Hungary was committed to gradually reducing the banking tax starting January 1, 2016.
Varga also informed the EBRD chief about the Hungarian government’s decision to apply for hosting the bank’s 2017 general assembly, the ministry said.
Referring to the EBRD Country Strategy for Hungary, Varga said that alongside strengthening energy security and the financial sector, priorities lie in agriculture and the food processing sector.
