End of summer in Hungary: Storm alert for Friday, even hail is possible

Hungary faces a gloomy and stormy Friday, with the national weather service issuing a thunderstorm alert. Rain, showers, and even small hail may occur in some regions, but the weekend looks set to bring more sunshine and milder conditions.
Friday: cloudy skies and thunderstorms
Most of the country will see overcast skies, though brief sunny breaks may appear in central and eastern regions, Index reports based on HungaroMet. In the southwest – particularly in Baranya, Somogy, and Zala counties – thunderstorms may bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and even small hail. Meanwhile, the southeast, including Békés and Csongrád-Csanád counties, could remain mostly dry.

Temperatures will range between 14–20°C during the day, but in the southeast, the mercury may climb as high as 22–24°C. Winds from the east and northeast will often be brisk, with stronger gusts in some areas, lowering the perceived temperature.
Saturday: sunnier and milder
By Saturday, drier air will arrive, allowing the sun to shine for longer periods. Only isolated showers are expected, mainly in the northeast and southwest. Morning temperatures will be between 8–14°C, rising to 15–22°C in the afternoon, with generally light to moderate winds.
Sunday: cloudy skies, some sunshine
With variable cloud cover, some sunshine is expected in some places and less in others. Light rain and showers may occur in some places. The northeast wind will pick up at times. Temperatures will range between 7 and 12 degrees Celsius at dawn, but in less cloudy northeastern areas, the air will cool to below 5 degrees Celsius. The highest temperatures on the last day of the week are expected to be between 16 and 22 degrees Celsius.
Health effects
The weather will bring a double front effect, which may cause discomfort for sensitive individuals. Headaches, fatigue, concentration problems, sleep disturbances, and blood pressure fluctuations are all possible. The elderly and those with chronic health conditions are advised to rest and avoid physical strain.
While Friday remains unsettled and stormy, the weekend promises clearer skies and more pleasant autumn weather.
