The new politician, vice-president of Hungary’s most powerful opposition party, informed the public about the development in a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon.

“The entry of TISZA Party MPs is supported by an overwhelming majority of the People’s Party. The only exception is perhaps the Fidesz-KDNP MEP who currently sits in the People’s Party. György Hölvényi, like a good Fidesz propagandist, is spreading untruths to his colleagues in the group,” Magyar wrote in his post.

According to Telex, the admission is not automatic, but EPP President Manfred Weber told Magyar and his party: the door is open and the EP’s seat counter already counts the Tisza to the EPP. Telex reports that the EPP group would hold its inaugural meeting as early as 18 June.

  1. The EPP which is centre-right is the biggest party group in the EP and Fidesz was expelled in March 2021 from this group and made sit independently in the parliament due to its’ corruption and extremism. It is good news that the Tisza Party will now sit with the EPP and have a voice in the party for Hungary. Fidesz are nobodies in the European Parliament.

  2. Poor Larry, he is still chewing it after the historical elections won by the right parties in Europe. Keep chewing it Larry. hahahahahaaaaha

  3. History never Lies.
Fidesz through it’s history in the European Parliament, the known – total lack of Trust and Respect, they factually, are just a name, with a few “bums on seats” – just making up numbers, and treated with growing Discontent – RIGHTFULLY.
The damage over nearing (2) two decades, that Fidesz has “self-orchestrated” it-self, imposed – the style the way of Victor Orban politics, that is “veiled” behing his DISTILLATION of Democracy in Hungary, there will be no chance of Fidesz – whilst the name Orban remains as the Prime Minister of Hungary, for us as a country to be taken SERIOUSLY.
The rise of the Tisza Party, that from still a mustard seed beginning – after just over 3 months, the Trepidation of Fidesz Party Voters / supporters, thatb in gargantuan number voted – this time for Fidesz just – this in the coming period in time, before the next general elections, as THINGS worsen inside Hungary, across the broadsheet of our Economy – our infrastructure, these WOBBLE voters of Fidesz, there numbers will GROW and will vote – move there vote – to an alternative Government, that will be the Tisza Party.
Voting by conscience or by emotion – the doubters of Fidesz voters, knowing, seeing what has happened under Orban, the state, he his Party of Fidesz – have DELIVERED to Hungary, the high plus probability of Hungary’s economic and financial position collapsing deeper into a “mire” – these are the fragile, vulnerable, questioning, un-certain, without total conviction – who voted on EMOTION Fidesz voters – that will come to reason, understand and accept that Hungary’s – there FUTURE, the needs of individually – all Hungarians, then secondly, the NEEDS of Hungary – is NOT under a Fidesz – the Victor Orban led present Government of Hungary.
Investment into Hungary – the Fidesz Party, the BILLIONS of forints needed – for the NEED of each and every Hungarian firstly and secondly for Hungary, to grow to be COMPETITORS taken seriously as a country, those NEEDED billions of forints – how is this Fidesz Government going to FIND and PROVIDE it ???
Vote by conscience or on emotion – that will GROW in its CHALLENGE on every individual Hungarian, between NOW and the General Election.
Mark 4 : 31-41 – teaches us, if we are PREPARED to listen.
It’s the GROWING journey of the Tisza Party.
“It is like a Mustard Seed which is the smallest of all seeds on earth.
Yet when planted, it grows, becomes the largest of all garden plants with such BIG branches that the birds can perch in its shade”.

  4. “Fidesz are nobodies in the EP” You mean Hungary is not going to save all of us from the liberals that want a clean environment, accountability and no corruption? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  5. @Bongo – “historic”? Still nowhere near enough to “rule” … The center holds the cards.

  6. It’s interesting how observers will take what they want from circumstances to fit their partisan view and it doesn’t matter who you are so I will include myself in that statement. Sometimes there are facts, however, that you can’t ignore and that is that Fidesz support dropped dramatically in this election and that is despite many reports of Fidesz voter fraud such as having dozens of people registered to vote as residing at apartments owned by or linked to Fidesz candidates. There are reports also of Karacsony’s name “accidentally” struck off ballots. Some posts above deflected the conversation by talking about right-wing gains in other countries. This is about Hungary and Hungarians are waking up to the corruption of Fidesz and the decline of their standard of living. With their votes on June 9th they said clearly that they want change and the bandits that make up Fidesz don’t sleep so well at night now.

  7. Hungary has among the lowest standard of living in the EU , closer to Bulgaria than anywhere developed, with among the worst healthcare, worst education, lowest wages, least English proficiency, least competitiveness, most corrupt in corruption index, highest inflation, I could go on but the stats are clear that something is rotten here and simply abnormal compared to the EU , even post -Soviet bloc EU nations which quickly overtook Hungary over the past decade.

It has been notable that there simply has not been a decent challenger to Orban. Magyar is the first. He had better keep a clean closet because he will be investigated thoroughly by Fidesz owned press, and secret police, tax authorities etc in the coming year or two for any , even fake, scandal they can expose. But hopefully it’s a sign things can turn for a more positive world view, not this constant fear mongering which has made so many people in Hungary suspicious ,afraid and ignorant of the outside world and held people back economically and totally unnecessarily.
