Europa League group stage: Vidi are drawn with Chelsea, PAOK and BATE
Vidi will be playing Europa League group stage football for the second time in the clubs history. They face three matches at home at the Groupama Arena in Budapest. A further three games will be played away from September to December.Â
Hungarian champions Vidi FC were drawn with Chelsea, PAOK and Bate when the draw was made in Monaco yesterday afternoon. Vidi were in pot 4 and were one of the last sides to be drawn out. It is the second time that Vidi have made it to the Europa League group stages. The last time was back in 2012 when Videoton, as they were then named, played against Basel, Genk and Sporting. Vidi even managed to beat Sporting and Basel at home.
Marko Nikolic’ team will face an exciting group stage after only just failing to make it into the group stage of the Champions League last week. A 1-1 draw in Athens saw Vidi press towards the end, but the 1-2 home leg defeat proved costly. Vidi have already knocked out Dudelange, Ludogorets and Malmö in this summer’s European adventure.
